The Union UWZ2 Series is a special microscope that magnifies and observes objects located in hard-to-reach areas such as samples inside a vacuum chamber or high-temperature heating elements from a distance.
Union Optical has developed the Ultra Long Working Distance Zoom Microscope by combining accumulated lens polishing and processing technology with telescope technology.
With the combination of a high-magnification objective lens and a 14:1 zoom body, it enables magnified observation of high-magnification, high-resolution images.
The illumination optics adopt coaxial vertical illumination and oblique illumination, enabling various types of observation.
The internal reflections (flare light) caused by the long working distance are blocked by a polarizer and a 1/4 λ wave plate, allowing clear image observation.
In the conventional optical system, it was impossible to observe samples inside a vacuum chamber, but with this system, sufficient working distance is secured to observe, assemble, and adjust samples located in hard-to-access areas such as high-temperature samples.
Therefore, it can be applied not only to alignment optical systems such as AFM, but also plays an active role in the fields of biology, biotechnology, and medicine.
As an example, the Japanese asteroid explorer "Hayabusa" was able to find and sample the fine particles collected from the asteroid "Itokawa" in the chamber container thanks to Union UWZ2 technology.
