PCB multilayer board cross section analysis



Overview


  • This program is an application for measuring the layer thickness of multilayer boards.

    The cross-sectional image of a PCB captured by a microscope camera is reconstructed into a monochrome image for analysis after preprocessing (filtering), providing a solution that measures the thickness of each layer at once.

Operation Procedure

Lens Magnification Selection

- Select the magnification of the microscope being observed.

1Image Capture
- Capture the target image for simulation work in steps 2 and 3 below. 
2Color Conversion Mode Selection
- Select a color space conversion mode in which the target image and the background are       clearly distinguished. (It can be found by scrolling the mouse wheel.) 
3Object Detection
- Select the brightness of the object and move the slider to find the boundary point                   between the background and the object. (0–255)

Press the Measure button to authorize the measurement.

Measurement Task
- When drawing an AOI (Area of Interest) that includes the measurement target, the                  measurement is performed immediately and the measurement data is temporarily                  displayed on the image. At this time, the boundary of the object can be adjusted by                scrolling the mouse wheel. To complete the measurement, right-click the mouse. (Repeat      processing is possible within the same image.)

Load Another Image
- For the same type of image, go to step 5 to perform color conversion and object detection     again, or go to step 2 if necessary.* 



 Color Conversion Process

 


When the Color Conversion mode is selected, the color image is converted into a Monochrome (black and white) image.

Select a color conversion mode in which the object to be measured and the background are clearly distinguished.

(Scroll the mouse wheel to select the optimal color conversion mode.)

Measurement Process

 

When drawing a horizontal or vertical AOI (Area of Interest) on the measurement target, the measurement is performed immediately.

Repeat processing is possible within the same image.

For images obtained under different conditions, it is necessary to perform the Color Conversion Process and Detect Object Process again.


Advanced Digital Imaging for Precise PCB Layer Analysis

         

During measurement, the operator can perform precise measurement by adjusting with the mouse wheel.

To complete the measurement, right-click the mouse.



       Cancel the measurement. Shortcut key  [ESC]


       When pressing the [ESC KEY] during measurement or editing, the task is immediately canceled. 




Press the Edit button and click the measured object with the mouse to modify the measurement points.

During editing, the line color is white.

Click the white points for fine adjustment.


PCB Cross Section Inspection Workflow for Electronics Industry


        Save the original / result images and measurement data.

        When clicking the Excel icon, the original and result images along with the measurement data are transferred to Excel and                                             displayed on the screen.

Option : Specify the overlay color and size displayed during the measurement process. 


Customizable PCB Analysis Parameters in INGPLUS Software                                                                   

By specifying the Save Folder, images and data can be saved.

The storage path is the Sample name Folder, which is a subfolder of the Save Folder.

EX: C:\TEST\ABC (ABC is the Sample name)
