Dendrite Arm Spacing
Dendrite Arm Spacing measures the spacing between adjacent dendrite arms.
By using pre-set interval values, this software can automatically calculate the secondary
dendrite arm spacing through the intercept method.
The measurement results are summarized into an easy-to-read spreadsheet format.

![]() | MEASUREMENT The measured results are recorded in real time on the measurement table. STATISTICS Basic statistics are automatically listed in the STATISTICS section:
REPORT By pressing the REPORT button, the results are transferred to Excel and can be managed as documentation.

Key Features
Average dendrite arm spacing determination
Evaluation of each intercept line: measured distances and number of dendrites
Automatic result spreadsheet generation
Purpose: To measure the spacing between adjacent dendrite arms
Measurement method: Automatic measurement (intercept method with pre-set interval setting)
Report / OutputReport / Output: Spreadsheet (spacing data, mean dendrite arm spacing [µm]), overlay image (spacing measurement overlay)
Setup
At the beginning, the user sets an appropriate interval value for dendrite spacing measurement.
During measurement, the user must draw an intercept line across the dendrites, and the system will automatically calculate the spacing while counting the number of dendrite arms.
The drawn line should be placed in a representative area of the entire structure, and each line should include several dendrite arms for statistical reliability.
Operation
The system accurately calculates the spacing between dendrite arms based on the intercept line drawn by the user.
Each intercept line is evaluated, and the measured distances, number of dendrites, and intervals are displayed.
Before the next evaluation begins, the measured values are stored in the spreadsheet.
Results
The calculated dendrite arm spacing results are stored in a spreadsheet format.
The results include:
Measured distances
Mean spacing
Minimum spacing
Maximum spacing
Number of dendrites per intercept line
These results allow users to analyze spacing distribution across the microstructure.
By combining multiple intercepts, DAS results can be summarized into overall statistical values with higher reliability.
